SAN ANTONIO BIOMEDICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (SABER) PROGRAM
WELCOME
The SABER•IRACDA program is a 4-year postdoctoral Teaching & Research training program, sponsored by an IRACDA (Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of National Institutes of Health to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio).
The overarching goal of the training program is to prepare a diverse and accomplished pool of research-teacher-scholars sensitive to the needs of underrepresented groups and able to serve as role models for students at the undergraduate level. Our partner institutions are St. Mary’s University, Our Lady of the Lake University and Trinity University.

Develop writing presentation and grantsmanship skills
Acquire professional networks of
peers and research experts
Develop a viable research program at an undergraduate institution
Receive mentored teacher training
Teach in courses such as biology, biochemistry, immunology, psychology, and chemistry
